Quarterback The Wrangler football team will have a competitive fall camp at one of the most vital positions of the football team. They welcome back returning starter Andrew Mellencamp who guided the Wrangler football team through the 2006 football season. The Wranglers add freshman signees Bryan Smith (6-4 220, Waco H.S.), Kevin Schmid (60 190, San Antonio MacArthur H.S.), Tate Smith (60 190, Odessa Permian H.S.), and Cameron Wynn (61 200, Spring Westfield H.S.).
Running Back This position was a strongpoint for the Wrangler football team in 2006 and looks to be a strong and competitive position for the 2007 football season. Jocques Crawford (2006 1st Team All Conference, 2007 Pre-Season All America) anchored the position last season and will move to the strong safety position in the 2007 season. Chris Zamora and Chris Matthews saw a lot of action in the spring but will have to fight off the stiff competition of the freshman signees that the Wranglers have signed. Newcomers Dwayne Stewart (62 210, Spring Westfield H.S.), Justise Campbell (59 220, Euless Trinity H.S.), Jerrard Milsap (59 180, Copperas Cove H.S), and Jonathan Craig (511 185, San Antonio MacArthur H.S.) will all come into the fall camp with their eyes focused on the starting spot.
Wide Receiver 2006 All - Conference wide receiver Dorian Williams (63 180) will be the main target for the Wrangler football team as he had a standout campaign in the 2006 football season. He is accompanied by returning letterman Brandon Girdy (59 175) and Billy Harris (510 180). The Wranglers add C.J. Johnson (64 220, Amarillo Tascosa H.S.), John Webb (62 180, Spring Westfield H.S.), Chase Bellah (64 195, Merkel H.S.), and Albert Liebowitz (510 170, Arlington Bowie H.S.) to help stretch defenses down the seams.
Tight End/Fullback The tight end position will return Coty Huber (65 270), a 2006 All- Conference member and 2007 Pre- Season All America. Coty will not only be a main contributor in the Wrangler running game, but will also be a threat to opposing secondarys in 2007. Anthony Rousser (62 240) will look to be an adding contributor to the tight end position as well as incoming freshman Larry Bradford (64 250, Mesquite H.S.). At fullback the Wranglers hope that incoming freshman Jermaine Fisher (510 220, Spring Westfield H.S.) and Chris Freeman (510 245, Temple H.S.) might be the guys to step up and own this position.
Offensive Line The Wranglers hang their hat on the fact that they can run the football and the men up front are the un-glorified members of the team that will make this happen in 2007. The Wranglers return three starters from last season which includes 2006 All Conference member and 2007 Pre- Season All America Tackle, Ricky McNatt ( 61 290). Returning members Isaac Chavez (66 340) and Mike Hernandez (62 290) also look to pave the way for the Wrangler running game along with newcomers Dimitri Lott (63 290) and Aaron Wagner (65 295, San Antonio Churchill H.S.). Incoming freshman Quincy Young (62 285, Wichita Fall Rider H.S.), Tearrel William (68 360, Dallas Skyline H.S.), Tyler Robinson (65 300, Wichita Fall Rider H.S.), and Mason Zinmeister (64 300, Sequin H.S.) look to add to the depth of the offensive line.
Defensive Line These men in the trenches look to create havoc on any opposing backfield they will face in the 2007 season. The front line of the Wrangler defense will return three starters from the 2006 football season in Calvin Fance (62 245), Steven Richardson ( 60 275), and D.J. Williams (510 300) as well as other returning letterman such as Rodney Flowers (62 240) and Benny Johnson (510 300). The Wranglers also welcomed newcomer McKinner Dixon (63 280) during the spring semester as he displayed tremendous potential to become a big time player for the Wranglers. They will also welcome incoming freshman Shane Evans (63 290, Houston Forrest Brook H.S.), Kevin Wilson (63 285, Hillsboro H.S.), Dimitris Herron (63 275, Austin H.S.), and Cordarian Knight (62 220, Hebron H.S.), to add to their attack.
Linebackers The linebackers will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2007 season as they welcome back the majority of their linebacking corp that is full of experience and talent. Reggie Randle ( 60 230), has moved from weak side end to Will backer where he has flourished this spring and will look to do so in the fall. They also welcome back Jeremy Franklin (61 220), who started most of the year as well as Dustin Estes (60 235). The Wranglers have also moved last years starter at SS, Kyle Smith (62 205) to SAM backer which will give the position a lot of athleticism and toughness. Newcomers Dewayne Baziel (63 240), Jeff Bell (6 230) and returning letterman Cord Glenn (61 240) and Sir Ron Dewitt (61 230) will look to contribute to this stellar squad as well as incoming freshman Zeke Jackson (61 215, San Angelo Central H.S.), and Sam Shepherd (62 235, La Vega H.S.).
Secondary With a lot of experience and talent returning, the Wrangler secondary will be one of the most athletic positions that will man the field. Jocques Crawford (2006 1st Team All Conference, 2007 Pre-Season All America), will move to Strong Safety, from which he was recruited out of high school to play. His athleticism, size and talent will be a great fortune for the Wrangler secondary. Returning letterman Cedric Robinson (59 200), James Moore (511 195), and spring standout Jordan Walker make up a lot of the experience and talent returning. With all the talent returning, the Wranglers will welcome incoming freshman T.J. London (62 218, Midland H.S.), Abraham Daily (61 190, A&M Consolidated H.S.), Anthony Forker (58 180, Spring Westfield H.S.), and Eric Thornton (63 175, San Antonio Sam Houston H.S.) to compete and fight for a starting spot.
